Youngstown On The Road With Jessica Simpson

Hollywood recording artists Youngstown have landed a slot opening for Jessica Simpson on the latter’s upcoming “Dreamchaser” tour beginning August 8 at the Bell County Expo in Belton, Texas.

“Down For The Get Down,” Youngstown’s eagerly awaited sophomore album, is scheduled to hit stores on August 7th.

Produced by Julian Raymond (Fastball), Oliver Leiber (BBMak) and Guy Roche (Christina Aguilera, Aaliyah), “Down For The Get Down” fully delivers on the promise of trio’s 1999 smash debut, “Let’s Roll.” The disc is best described as pop with punch, blending harmony andattitude with sweet, sincere ballads and in-your-face bounce.

Billboard praised the disc’s lead single, “Sugar,” writing, “… after touring the U.S, Europe and Japan, DC, Sammy, and Dallas return with their best track yet, a slightly edgy mid-tempo pop-rocker with some great instrumental hooks and chorus.” Other highlights include a cover of John Lennon’s “Grow Old With Me,” the wailing guitar of “Machine” and the explosive “You Want What You Want.”

Youngstown (Sam Lopez, James Dallas, David “DC” Yeager) began developing their rule-breaking brand of R&B-hip-hop-rock-pop six years ago when they hooked up in the Ohio city for which they’re named. Each brought his mercurial talents and diverse influences to the group. Dallas dug rock and R&B, DC was into R&B and hip-hop, Sammy grew up on salsa, and all shared a common bond in classic pop.

After tossing Boyz II Men, AC/DC and Michael Jackson in the metaphoric blender, the guys got to jamming and breaking ground. “We didn’t start out with a multi-million dollar manager who put us in front of everyone – we started out with a manager who worked for General Motors,” laughed Dallas. “Word of mouth got us into studios, got us producers, got us a record deal.”

Another huge part of the band’s appeal is the physical aspect of their live show. “Dancing is a huge part of what we do – it’s like sign language,” said David “DC” Yeager. Added Sammy, “The body is such a form of expression. You gotta use everything you’ve got.”
