Will Smith To Pony Up Big Dough For Big Boy's Weight Loss

It’s a good thing “Men in Black II” is doing well at the box office, because star Will Smith has some unexpected costs to take care of.

At the beginning of the year, the rapper/actor announced his New Year’s resolution was to help Los Angeles radio personality Big Boy lose weight. Smith pledged to donate $1,000 per pound to charity if the Power 106 DJ could lose 50 pounds.

Big Boy, who weighed 510 pounds when he accepted the challenge, has since lost more than 100 pounds through exercise and a healthy diet.

“I feel great, and I’m thrilled that I was able to help raise money, by making myself healthier,” Big Boy said in a statement. “I’m sure glad Will didn’t start sending me pizzas to keep his money! You know, at 400 pounds, I still get to keep my name, because I’m still a Big Boy.”

The DJ, whose morning show garnered top ratings in Los Angeles this year, will reveal his new physique at Power 106’s fourth annual back-to-school Powerhouse concert on August 24 at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim.

Performers include Nelly and the St. Lunatics; Ja Rule, Ashanti and the Murder Inc. Family; Knoc-Turn’Al; DJ Quik and reunions of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and the Westside Connection featuring Ice Cube, Mack 10 and WC.

Power 106, which donates $5,000 a month to Southern California public schools, will give proceeds from the concert to the Knowledge Is Power school grant program.

Big Boy is scheduled to star in the new FOX series “Fastlane,” debuting in the fall.

Smith, a longtime friend of the DJ, recently released Born to Reign and has topped the box-office charts for two weeks in a row with “Men in Black II”.
