Styx's Chuck Panozzo Comes Out Of The Closet

To almost everyone’s surprise, Styx’s bassist Chuck Panozzo has come out of the closet.

The classic rocker made his declaration as a gay man living with HIV at Chicago’s Human Rights Campaign’s annual dinner on Saturday (July 28). The Windy City native explained that he decided to come clean so he could help make the world “a better place for the next generation,” adding that, “coming out has touched my life in so many positive ways and really has set my spirit free.”

Panozzo, who formed the pomp rock band in 1963 with twin brother John, Dennis De Young, and Tom Nardini, will become a spokesman for the group’s National Coming Out Project.
