Ricky Martin's Russian Crew Lands Airline In Hot Water

A Hong Kong court has slapped a fine on Cathay Pacific Airways for allowing Russian crew members on pop singer Ricky Martin’s private jet to enter the territory without visas.

The airline, which was the ground agent for the Latino sex symbol’s plane, was ordered on Tuesday to pay a fine of $833 for each of the 19 Russians who came to Hong Kong last October without valid travel documents.

The penalty totaled $15,833, the airline said on Wednesday.

The crew members had traveled to Hong Kong from Korea with the pop star, who was on a world concert tour, but immigration officers found they did not have Hong Kong visas.

They were eventually issued temporary visas and the concert went ahead as planned.

Government records show Cathay received 791 summonses for similar offences in the past three years.
