MusicNet Names Rose to Board

MusicNet has appointed John Rose, executive vice president of the EMI Group, to its board of directors. Rose, a former McKinsey & Co. executive, recently joined EMI to oversee strategy and business development functions, government and industry affairs, as well as the new media division. Rose is one of seven members of MusicNet’s board.

“We are thrilled to have John join our board of directors,” said Alan McGlade, CEO of MusicNet. “John’s deep roots in creating new companies in the global entertainment and media space will be a valuable asset to MusicNet as we continue to lead the charge of bringing music fans a compelling and robust way to both stream and download music from their favorite artists.”

“It is very exciting for me to be involved in the early stages of the digital music revolution,” said John Rose, executive vice president of the EMI Group. “Joining the MusicNet board of directors gives me the opportunity to apply my past experience to help build a meaningful and compelling consumer service for digital music through MusicNet.”

Prior to joining the EMI Group, Rose was a senior partner and co-leader of the global media and entertainment practice at McKinsey & Co. He was responsible for business creation, both within and outside the Internet space, business restructuring and portfolio strategy, and overall corporate strategy including merger and acquisition activity. Rose engineered and led many deals. During his time at McKinsey he engaged in private equity work and gained considerable international and technology experience. Rose holds a BA in Mathematics from Wesleyan University and a masters degree from Yale School of Management. He currently serves on the boards of WNYC, a non-profit radio group in New York, and Young Audiences, a group dedicated to bringing arts into the classroom.
