MuchMusic USA Offers Fans A Special Performance By Alanis Morissette

MuchMusic USA, the nation’s only viewer-driven all music network, today announced a national contest for viewers to win a visit and exclusive performance from music recording artist Alanis Morissette.

The MuchMusic USA event called “Class Dismissed”, created by TIDAL 4, a convergence production company, is an exclusive on-air and online event where the winner of the national contest will be dismissed from class for a personal visit with Alanis and attend an intimate performance by the recording artist at their high school. The Class Dismissed contest runs from July 25th through August 17th and the grand-prize winner will be selected in September, but kept a secret until Alanis arrives at the winner’s school.

To enter the contest, MuchMusic USA is asking fans to create their own video of Morissette’s hit single “Ironic,” off the Jagged Little Pill album. To do this, fans should go to the www.mmusa.tv Web site and use the new Videolator technology to create their very own Alanis music video. The top forty video entries will be posted online where viewers will vote for twenty-five semi-finalists between August 18th and the 22nd. The semi-finalists will receive MuchMusic USA T-shirts and ten finalists will receive specially autographed merchandise by Alanis Morissette. The top ten finalists will also submit a two-minute video of themselves explaining why they love Alanis Morissette and their viewer-made video will be aired on the MuchMusic USA television network.

“MuchMusic USA is about connecting fans to their music and Class Dismissed is a very exciting way for us to bring the music to our viewers,” said Norm Schoenfeld, vice president of programming for MuchMusic USA. “We have a great sense of community with our viewers and this type of synergy between the music and the fans is why we believe MuchMusic USA is making a difference in music television.”

Class Dismissed will air on November 22nd, as a one-hour show that includes performance footage, documentary footage from the contest winner’s visit with Alanis and commentary from fans.
