Modern-Alternative rockers Lit have nailed down studio time to start working on the follow-up to their 1999 platinum-plus sophomore release “A Place In The Sun.” Lead vocalist A. Jay Popoff, guitarist Jeremy Popoff, bassist Kevin Baldes and drummer Allen Shellenberger will head into the studio on May 14 to begin recording their new project. The band will once again co-produce with veteran Producer Don Gilmore (“A Place In The Sun,” Linkin Park, Sugar Ray.)
“A Place In The Sun” featured the hit singles “Miserable,” Zip-Lock,” and the #1 Billboard Modern Rock song of 1999 “My Own Worst Enemy.” Lit supported the record worldwide with over 300 shows including dates with The Offspring, Garbage, KISS, No Doubt, The Warped Tour, and a sold-out headline tour. “A Place In The Sun” was nominated for the Blockbuster, Teen Choice and Billboard Music Video Awards and received a prestigious ASCAP Award for “Most Played Song”.
Lit plan to record and produce the new record in 6 weeks and are expecting a tentative late-summer release on Dirty Martini/RCA Records. Lit formed the Dirty Martini label in 1997 with the release of their debut CD “Tripping The Light Fantastic.” Dirty Martini has recently signed their first band, Orange County based punk-influenced Handsome Devil. Handsome Devil will release their first single “Makin’ Money” in June with a full CD release to follow on August 8. The album will be produced by Jeremy Popoff and Ed Stasium (Ramones, Smithereens, Reverend Horton Heat) and will be distributed through RCA/BMG Worldwide. Future releases on Dirty Martini are planned for the fall.
In August, Dirty Martini will release Lit’s first home video, “Stuck In The Middle of Everywhere.” The home video will feature never-before-seen live clips, backstage shots, and historical footage from the band’s archives. In addition, the video will include brand new videos for their songs “Four” and “The Best Is Yet To Come Undone.”
Lit have also just completed a cover of Twisted Sister’s anthem “I Wanna Rock” to be featured on an upcoming Twisted Sister tribute album for Koch Records. The track features vocal accompaniment from Twisted Sister front man Dee Snider, whom Lit featured in their video “Zip-Lock.”
