Linkin Park Planning Projekt Revolution Tour, Remix Album

Linkin Park is in the process of organizing its own headlining tour, the first Projekt Revolution Tour, tentatively set for January of 2002. It’s being planned for U.S. arenas, and the lineup will be an eclectic mix of rock, rap, hip-hop, and electronic music.

Guitarist Brad Delson said that the band is all about musical diversity. He revealed Linkin Park gets pigeonholed as a rock band, but they’re more eclectic that that. “The idea of the group, which really started in (singer) Mike (Shinoda)’s bedroom was to really create a hybrid between emo, techno, hip-hop, hardcore, everything, and really create a sound that is unique as our own and we’re still continuing to achieve that in our writing and what not.”

The lineup for Projekt Revolution, which Linkin Park hopes to make an annual trek, is expected to be announced within the month.

Meanwhile, Linkin Park is in the middle of assembling a remix album that will feature songs from the quadruple-platinum Hybrid Theory as well as the B-sides “My December” and “High Voltage.” Lined up to contribute to the album are Crystal Method, Marilyn Manson, Orgy’s Jay Gordon, Alchemist, DJ Z-Trip, Evidence (Dilated Peoples), Kutmasta Kurt, and more. The still-to-be-titled collection is penciled in for a spring 2002 release.
