He's The Robot, I'm The Rapper: Will Smith In Asimov Movie

Will Smith has signed on to “get literary with it” in a film drawn from “I, Robot,” the classic short-story collection that set the stage for just about every robot movie ever made.

Set to begin shooting in the spring, “I, Robot” will team Smith with former video director Alex Proyas, whose feature film credits include “The Crow” and “Dark City,” for the tale of a detective looking into a crime that may have been committed by a robot. Other casting is still pending, according to a Fox studio representative.

“I, Robot” Collects Short Stories Isaac Asimov Wrote For Pulp Sci-Fi Magazines In The 1950s. Asimov Is Perhaps Most Remembered By Genre Fans For Creating The “Three Laws Of Robotics,” Which Are:

  • Robots must never harm human beings.
  • Robots must follow instructions from humans without violating rule #1.
  • Robots must protect themselves without violating the other rules.
