VMA 360 Degrees will be integrating MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com to present viewers with a deeper connection to all things VMA. More details to come.

“Not only has it been a great year for established superstars like U2, but as evident in this year’s nominees, it’s also been a great year for breakthrough artists from Alicia Keys to Staind to Dido,” said Van Toffler, President, MTV & MTV2. “Also, equally exciting is that for the first time in Video Music Awards history, MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com will be providing our viewers with a unique 360 degrees of music that will surely make for a deeper connection to the artists and the performances.”

“I am delighted that MTV has once again chosen New York City to host its annual MTV Video Music Awards,” said Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani. “I can think of no better place or city in which to celebrate and reward the talented people of the music industry than here in New York City, the Cultural and Entertainment Capital of the World. I want to extend my best wishes to thisyear’s nominees, and I hope that the MTV Video Music Awards returns to this great City next year.”

Metropolitan Opera General Manager Joseph Volpe said, “We are happy to welcome the MTV Video Music Awards to The Metropolitan Opera House again. It is a pleasure to share our theater with the huge international audience that watches this show.”

Currently on their “Elevation Tour 2001,” U2 is nominated for five Video Music Awards for their music videos for “Beautiful Day” and “Elevation Remix.” The band’s album “All That You Can’t Leave Behind” has gone multi-platinum.
