Elton John Loses Court Case

Sir Elton John loses a multimillion dollar court battle against PriceWaterhouseCoopers and his former manager.

Music superstar Sir Elton John has lost a multimillion dollar court battle against PriceWaterhouseCoopers and former manager Andrew Haydon in which John alleged that both parties were negligent in managing his affairs. At issue are expenses totaling about $20 million that John claims to have amassed during overseas travel. During the 43-day hearing, the court heard specific details of the singer’s extravagant lifestyle. Justice Andrew Ferris was told how the singer spent nearly $26 million in a single 20-month period and at one point had spent $195,300 on flowers in less than two years.

“Sir Elton is clearly a man of an uncommonly generous disposition,” Justice Ferris said as he issued his decision. “He likes spending money on himself and on gifts or other benefits to friends. But he has little or no interest in business matters and does not bother to understand matters which do not interest him.”

John’s lawyers anticipate that there will be an appeal of today’s ruling.
