Hole frontwoman recording jazz and blues standards for soundtrack to her film “Hello Suckers.”
Courtney Love’s image has gone from grunge to classic Hollywood glam, and now her music is going back in time.
Miss World has been recording jazz and blues standards for the soundtrack to her film “Hello Suckers,” according to Hole’s official Web site. The project teams her with old friend Roddy Bottum of Imperial Teen; the pair were momentary bandmates in the early ’80s when Love briefly joined Faith No More, in which Bottum played keyboards.
Love has already handpicked several songs for the project and recorded demos of such tunes as “The Prisoner’s Song,” “There’ll Be Some Changes Made” and “Alexander’s Rag Time Band.” Bottum and Love are considering writing some originals as well.
In “Hello Suckers,” Love stars as ’20s singer/actress Texas Guinan, a Broadway and film star who ran a notorious speakeasy during the Prohibition era. The film, which begins shooting later this year, is being directed by Scott Elliot (“A Map of the World”). Martin Scorsese will serve as executive producer.
Love is currently in Vancouver shooting “24 Hours.” She will resume work with her new band, Bastard, in July, after guitarist Louise Post finishes a tour with her band Veruca Salt.
