Columbia Records Announce Line Up for December's 'Street Team'

Columbia Records and Music Choice are announcing the line-up for the December episode of “Street Team,” the next generation of rock & roll television. Episode Eight, airing from December 3, through December 16, features segments with Xzibit, John Mayer, Blaque, and Cypress Hill. Nine young Street Team hosts take television viewers on a first hand trip to a place previously off-limits to most music lovers: backstage, on tour, on stage and in the studio shooting music videos with top artists.

Viewers now get a chance to find out what it’s all about from the perspective of their peers: the Street Team hosts, nine young men and women who want to find out, just like viewers, what really happens behind the scenes. Check http://www.musicchoice.com or your local cable listings for specific showtimes and channels in your area.

Cypress Hill, the godfathers of alternarap, release a new studio album, “Stoned Raiders,” to stores on December 4th. Since the release of the group’s self-titled debut in 1991, the West Coast progenitors of rap & roll have sold more than 15 million records worldwide. The December “Street Team,” hosted by Brian Jackson, Nate Crooker and Pat McNulty, goes with Cypress behind-the- scenes and in front of the cameras at a recent Los Angeles video shoot for the track “Lowrider.” The Street Team shows viewers the “real deal” behind shooting the Cypress Hill music video.

John Mayer’s Aware/Columbia debut “Room For Squares” is in stores now. The critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter has been winning converts to his exciting new sounds with his riveting on-stage presence and unforgettable performances. “Street Team” goes on-stage with John at a memorable concert in his hometown of Athens, Georgia. The gals from Street Team, including Cresta Freeberg, Julia Chernestsky and Theresa Pletchton, host this segment. Viewers share Mayer’s perspective from the concert and experience, first-hand from the stage, what it feels like to be in front of an audience.

The sizzling R&B trio Blaque are following up the platinum success of the group’s self-titled debut album with the provocative upcoming release “Blaque Out,” in stores January 29, 2002. In this “Street Team” segment, Brian Jackson, Nate Crooker and Pat McNulty meet the group close-up and personal at a Los Angeles video shoot for Blaque’s new track “Can’t Get It Back.” Viewers can go with the Street Team into the studio with Blaque for a first-hand account of shooting their video.

The underground rap genius Xzibit burst on the scene in 1995 when he toured with the rap group Tha Liks. He’s following up his two critically- acclaimed solo albums with his next release, “Man vs. Machine,” one of the most hotly-anticipated albums of 2002. “Street Team’s” Brian Jackson takes you behind-the-scenes with Xzibit on his recent East Coast college tour. Viewers will go on the set with the hosts and Xzibit at this up-close-and- personal episode of “Street Team.”

Cypress Hill fans can register to win a Sony digital Walkman or the complete seven CD Cypress Hill music catalog from now until January 1, 2002 at http://www.musicchoice.com. Entrants will be asked to answer a Cypress Hill question related to the December show, so tune in to show for the answer.
