Coldplay Reveal New Songs During Small London Concert

Media reports say that Coldplay are having mixed feelings about getting up onstage again after their long recording break. So they started out slowly on March 4 playing a small gig in London where lucky fans and industry people got to preview new songs from the upcoming album.

Coldplay debuted three new songs from their currently untitled record that should be out this June. The tracks “Speed Of Sound,” “A Message” and “What If” were all played. Another new song “Fix You” had to be cut from the set list due to time.

Coldplay have also said that the songs “The Hardest Part,” “X&Y” and “Till Kingdom Come” should be on the album as well.

On Monday, lead singer Chris Martin told BBC radio that the song “Square One” was a good live song, but they didn’t play it during the Friday show.

If you look hard enough you may be able to find the new song “Talk” online. It’s been floating around the Internet for a few days now, although Billboard.com reports that it may not make it onto the new record and may instead be a B-side.

The band’s first official show in two years will be on Saturday in Los Angeles during a KCRW benefit at the Universal Amphitheatre. They’ll also play the Coachella Festival in April and then a European Tour will follow, beginning June 15.

Coldplay have given numerous reasons for the delay in releasing new material. Martin now says they had only one track left to mix when they decided to toss out all the songs and start again. He said the band didn’t feel the songs sounded as good recorded as they did live.
