CMJ today announced its showcase lineup for CMJ Music Marathon 2001 and the lineup for its annual College Day, a day-long symposium with panel discussions focusing on issues facing the college music community today.
Complementing the day’s programming are live performances from My Vitriol (Epic), Beulah (Velocette), and (International) Noise Conspiracy (Epitaph).
CMJ New Music Report charts the music activity and evolution of 800 college radio stations 52 weeks every year, ensuring that the annual College Day symposium is the music industry’s premier college radio event and brainstorming session. A intensive day-long workshop, College Day thoroughly examines how to manage and keep up with the evolving nature of college radio; its coverage includes internal station operations, budgeting, fundraising, accessing computer technology for new media opportunities, campus awareness and activities, interaction with the local scene, utilizing the Web to reach stations nationwide and much more. College Day also serves as an important forum for participants to discuss the convergence of radio and the Internet in the college market.
This year’s CMJ Music Marathon is also set to feature performances by more than 1000 artists at over 50 of the greatest venues in New York City and, in traditional CMJ style, will feature artists drawn from the widest variety of genres, underscoring CMJ’s ability to put its finger on the pulse of music scenes across the board.
Famous for showcasing then-unknown acts such as R.E.M, Nine Inch Nails, U2, Annie Lennox, Green Day, Luscious Jackson, Blur, Hole, Marilyn Manson, Tricky, Jane’s Addiction and thousands more, CMJ Music Marathon is widely recognized as the world’s premiere music industry event. CMJ Music Marathon 2001 will be held from September 13-16 at the Hilton New York located on Sixth Avenue at 53rd St. in Manhattan. In addition to artist showcases, Marathon will host more than 50 panels on the state of the music business as well as the annual CMJ FilmFest.
