Britney's New Year's Nap

Not every A-lister rang in the New Year in style. Britney Spears’ evening, for one, was quite the snoozefest.

At least, that’s the official no-partying party line.

The singer’s recently rehired rep, Larry Rudolph, is lashing out at reports that the star passed out–and had to be carried out–while hosting a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas, claiming instead that the mother of two was just catching some zzz’s.

“By about one o’clock she was just done, so we took her out,” Rudolph told the Associated Press. “She was not drunk. She was just tired and falling asleep.”

The 25-year-old reveler’s naptime unfortunately coincided with a hosting gig at Caesar’s Palace’s Pure nightclub, where she was leading the annual countdown from the VIP lounge for which she pocketed, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal, a hefty $300,000.

By Monday morning, gossip sites were already wagging their virtual tongues with the supposed scoop that the singer’s recent bout of partying had finally caught up to her.

The New York Post reported that at about 12:45 a.m., Spears, who purportedly had been drinking champagne and dancing to her own “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “went into a dead faint and just fell right to the floor.” The newspaper went on to claim that she was quickly whisked away from prying eyes by her entourage and removed from the club.

Rudolph disputes the entire account.

“There is nothing out of the ordinary here,” he told the AP, adding that Spears did not seek medial attention.

Spears was in Sin City with her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, who were being tended to by a nanny during the party. Needless to say, she was not with estranged hubby Kevin Federline.

That honor went to the people of Miami’s Mansion nightclub, where Federline rang in the New Year alongside Lindsay Lohan, Mandy Moore, Wilmer Valderrama and Hilary Duff.

As for Spears, aside from her stated goals to “get more sleep” and “wear underwear,” the singer’s real New Year’s resolution is likely “complete comeback.” Her fourth studio album, tentatively titled Fear Within, is due out later this year.
