3 Doors Down, Lifehouse Plan Tour

Modern rock outfit 3 Doors Down and Lifehouse – two bands whose albums made the upper reaches of the sales and airplay charts despite relatively little fanfare – will be teaming up for a nationwide tour beginning July 3 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Joining the bands on the string of arena dates will be Tantric, a group formed by former members of Days of the New. At the moment, the three bands have 11 gigs lined up through the middle of summer, concluding July 22 in Cheyenne, Wyo.

With the help of the ubiquitous single “Kryptonite” and prominent opening gigs for Creed, 3 Doors Down’s The Better Life spent much of last summer on the Billboard Top 10, and the group eventually garnered a Grammy nod.

Lifehouse seems to be taking a similar path to success – the band’s No Name Face recently climbed into the Top 10 on the back of the persistent single “Hanging by a Moment” and increased exposure from an opening stint for Matchbox Twenty.

The question is – will Tantric be able to pull of the same trick? The band’s single, “Breakdown,” has climbed to a No. 4 position on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart, and the group’s self-titled album sits at No. 84.
